Clean up activities in South-East

Clean up Riviere des Creoles Beach - 5 June 2022

It was raining. The particlpants disposed of 110 bags of waste.

It was a fitting tribute to The  2022 World Environment Day on the theme. ONLY ONE EARTH

Clean up of Beaches - Bois des Amourettes, Anse Jonchée 31 July 2022

The Internationl Day for the Conservational of the Mangrove Ecosystem (UNESCO 2015), dedicated to raise awreness of mangrove as a 'unique, special, and vulnerable ecosystem'.

ADD organised a Clean up of Bois des Amourettes and Anse Jonchée beaches. Partners: local conmmunities, NGOs, Ministry of Environment, private sector, and others. Members of Rotaract, anAngel and staff of MOL took an active part. It is estimated that nearly a tonne of waste was collected. The District Council provided a lorry for the collection and disposal of the waste. Some 150 committed persons participated in this exercise.

H.E. the Ambassador of Japan participated in this event. He expressed his appreciation to ADD for its actions. He saw MOL as a foremost charity organisationand welcomed its contributions. He explained how Japan has taken care of its beaches and coasts.

Mr Ragoonaden showed a video clip showing the inhabitants of Le Morne and Case Noyale highlighting the benefits of mangrove to the community. He showed the activitivy of ADD in planting some 10ha of mangrove and the, in a paractical manner, the benefits of mangrove. Posters by Shivani, gratefully acknowledged.
