Mangrove filter wastes

Mangroves filter wastes

A rather poorly recognised quality of mangroves is that they filter wastes - plastic bottles, debris, etc that humans throw away from their sights into the sea.

The attached photo (L'Express 14.01.15) taken on a Ramsar site in Mahebourg demonstrates mangroves' role in keeping our coasts clean and tidy.

We only have to collect the wastes.

Or better still, just not throw them into the sea.
