Ocean sediment around St. Brandon stirred by Cyclone Bansi

On Jan. 19, NASA's Aqua satellite spotted sediment stirred up by tropical cyclone Bansi around St Brandon Island (Cargados Carajos Shoals, Indian Ocean) (See Figure). By the 19th, the cyclone was well beyond Rodrigues offering clear skies over the St Brandon area.

The intense tropical cyclone with visible eye was moving slowly Eastward and stayed in the vicinity of St. Brandon at a distance of some 100 km for over 36 hours from 13 to 15 January 2015. The maximum sustained wind was at times nearly 250km/hr. (See track of cyclone).
